Cowboys Get Swept by Mountain Lions

Colorado Springs, CO- The New Mexico Highlands University Baseball team fell to the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions, 1-6. Your Cowboys fall to 13-26 overall and 9-19 RMAC.
 
Senior Easton Garcia would lead off the top of the first with a single. He would then steal second base, but he would be left stranded before he could score. Senior pitcher Phil Trujillo got out to a hot start as he didn't allow a hit in the bottom of the inning.
 
Preston Inman and Luis Ornelas would both pick up singles in the top of the second, but the Cowboys would not be able to bring them home before the side was retired. Trujillo kept the Mountain Lions hitless once more in the bottom of the inning.
 
Sophomore Joseph Cilladi was the only Cowboy to reach base in the top of the third as he hit a single. The Mountain Lions would break the tie in the bottom of the inning as they pushed 3 runs across to take the 3-0 lead.
 
Cilladi got on base in the top of the fifth with a single, but he would be left stranded once again. The Mountain Lions scored 1 run in the bottom of the fifth and 2 more in the bottom of the sixth to command a 6-0 lead.
 
Senior Brian Chaparro would lead off the top of the ninth with a nice double to left field. Garcia would ground out in his at bat, but it would allow Chaparro to score, making the score 1-6.
 
The Cowboys would go on to fall to the Mountain Lions, 1-6.
 
The Cowboys will hit the field again on April 25th against the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers.
