DENVER, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team lost to No. 23 Regis University 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-11) Friday evening on the road.
The Cowgirls (5-9 overall, 3-3 RMAC) were right there with the Rangers (9-5, 5-1) in the first set as a 4-0 run thanks to a pair of
Tiffany Matchett kills, a Regis attack error and a
Celina Naranjo ace put NMHU within one at 22-21. But Regis went on a 3-0 run to finish off the game 25-21 in favor of the Rangers.
NMHU dropped the next two sets 25-16 and 25-11 to fall even in RMAC play at 3-3.
Matchett led NMHU with eight kills to go along with 10 digs.
Celina Naranjo had a team-best 14 assists while
Elena Rivera had 13 digs.
The Cowgirls continue RMAC play 5 p.m. Saturday at Colorado Christian.
