Women's Volleyball take CSU-Pueblo to 4

Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls (1-12, 0-5 RMAC) saw the game slip right from their hands as Colorado State – Pueblo (5-8, 3-2 RMAC) won tonight's match 3-1 at the Wilson Complex in Las Vegas, NM.

The Cowgirls battled the ThunderWolves from the start as the Cowgirls found themselves ahead early in the first set 7-5. The two teams would rally back and forth until the ThunderWolves would win 4-straight points to take a 16-12 lead. Sierra Foley would take control as she terrorized the ThunderWolves defense and scored 2-straight kills. Followed by a service ace from Soleil Gandara, Anissa Hernandez would spark the Cowgirls with a kill and an assisted block, to make it a 5-0 run for the Cowgirls. Foley would top it off with a kill and the Cowgirls would tie the game at 19. The ThunderWolves would win 6 of the next 9 points and take the first set 25-22.

During the second set, the teams continued to battle back and forth as the Cowgirls found themselves ahead 8-4. Again, the two teams would battle to tie the game at 17-17. Three errors by the ThunderWolves would give the Cowgirls the spark that they needed to take the set 25-23.

The ThunderWolves would come out hot in the third, as the Cowgirls couldn't find an answer for their attack and found themselves down 21-7 and would eventually lose the set 25-11.

The fourth set was another action packed set, as the Cowgirls would again take an early 4-1 lead. The ThunderWolves would rally back and take a 9-7 lead and would eventually open up their lead to 18-13. The Cowgirls would rally back to within 3 at 22-19, but the ThunderWolves would close out the set 25-20 and win the match 3-1.

Sierra Foley would end the game with 10 kills and 2 blocks. Taley Ferrari ended the night with 5 total blocks and 7 kills. Keegan Lopez (6 kills and 5 digs), Bryanna Lopez (17 digs and 3 assists), and Anissa Hernandez (2 blocks and 4 kills) would help the Cowgirls as they continue to be competitive in every match.

The Cowgirls will continue conference play this weekend at home as they will host Colorado Christian at 7 pm on Friday night and Regis at 5 pm on Saturday at the Wilson Complex in Las Vegas, NM.
