SAN ANTONIO, Texas --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team fell to Texas A&M-Kingsville 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the St. Mary College Classic at The Park.

The Cowgirls (0-3) allowed three runs in the first, but settled down and allowed just four runs the rest of the game against undefeated TAMK (10-0), but couldn't muster any offense.

Belinda Gonzalez went five innings and gave up six runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and a walk while
Isabella Scarale pitched the final inning, giving up one unearned run on one hit.
Desiree Madrid paced NMHU at the plate, going 2-for-3.

NMHU's contest against Tarleton State scheduled for Saturday morning was canceled due to inclement weather and will not be made up.

The Cowgirls return to action 9 a.m. Sunday as they take on St. Edward's.
