Cowgirls drop 2 games against MSU-Denver, Regis

Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team lost to MSU-Denver, 9-2, before falling to Regis 3-1 after the game was ended early.
 
GAME 1 RECAP: The Cowgirls never found a rhythm at the plate against the Roadrunners as MSU-Denver never trailed throughout the game.
 
MSUD would take a 3-0 early on in the second inning before Victoria Mata would bring in Megan Gutierrez on a sacrifice fly to left field before Camrynn Ziegler would single up the middle and score Alicia Gonzales.
 
The Roadrunners would score six more runs, and hold the Cowgirls scoreless, to finish off the game 9-2.
 
Camrynn Ziegler finished the game 2 for 3 with an RBI and while Leah Osborn, Megan Gutierrez, and Ashley Forshee each recorded a hit for the Cowgirls.
 
Belinda Gutierez pitched 5 innings while giving up 10 hits and 6 runs while striking out 3 batters and walked 1 while Tamia Yellowman stepped in for 2 innings and faced 10 batters while giving up 2 hits and 2 runs.
 
GAME 2 RECAP: The Cowgirls lost to Regis 3-1 after the game was ended early due to lack of daylight.
 
The Cowgirls scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth after Ashlea Ortega stepped up and hit a homerun to left field, however the Rangers would quickly tie the game in the bottom half of the inning before taking a 3-1 lead.
 
Camrynn Ziegler led the Cowgirls again going 2 for 3 on the game while Ashlea Ortega, Megan Jesionowski, and Tamia Yellowman each recorded a hit for the Cowgirls.
 
The Cowgirls will continue play on Sunday morning against Regis at 10 am and MSU-Denver at 12 pm.
