LAS VEGAS, N.M. ---Â The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team hosts Colorado Christian on Friday and top-ranked MSU Denver on Saturday as the Cowgirls host their Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend during both contests.
COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THIS WEEKÂ |Â 2021Â SEASON STATS
NMHUÂ dropped its only match last weekend as the Cowgirls were swept by Regis at home 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-19) on Friday.
Lisi Langi continues to lead the team in kills at 2.89 per set while Terayah Studkes (2.32) and
Keegan Lopez (2.28) are averaging more than two per game with
Stacy Johnson just under at 1.97 kills per set.
Soleil Gandara continues to rank in the top 10 in the RMAC in assists at 10.1 per game while Johnson leads the team in aces at 0.23 per set.
Elena Rivera owns a team-best 4.01 digs per set while Johnson also leads the teams at 0.92 blocks per set.
COLORADO CHRISTIAN HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ |Â 2021 SEASON STATS
The Cougars split a pair of home matches last week, falling to No. 7 Colorado School of Mines 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-13) on Friday before bouncing back to defeat Chadron State 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-10) on Saturday.
CCU has two players averaging more than three kills per set in Libby Goodman (3.43) and Breanna Allen (3.33) while Kylar Raymond (2.25) and Lilly Woods (2.05) each are averaging more than two per set. Izzy Jones leads the team with 9.23 assists per set while Mackenzie Close averages a CCU-best 0.30 aces per set. Defensively, Madelyn Long leads the team at 3.94 digs per set while Woods leads the team at 0.98 blocks per set.
MSU DENVER HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ |Â 2021 SEASON STATS
The Roadrunners are on a 14-match winning streak after beating Chadron State 3-0 Friday and then beating No. 6 Colorado School of Mines 3-2 (25-17, 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 15-11) on Saturday in a top-10 national matchup.Â
Both of MSU Denver's losses are in five sets - last losing at No. 14 Western Washington on Sept. 4.
Rylee Hladky leads MSU Denver at 3.41 kills per set while Avaline Lai is averaging 3.16 followed by Alexis Benda (2.46) and Riley Anderson (2.18). The Roadrunners have a two-setter attack with Amela Qershia (6.19) and Jessa Megenhardt (5.30) lead the team in assists while Hladky paces the team at 0.49 aces per set. Ashleyn Cianciulli leads the team at 3.99 digs per set while Ember Canty is averaging 1.03 blocks per set.
