CHADRON, Neb. --- The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team went on the road and defeated Chadron State 3-1 (26-24, 14-25, 25-23, 25-13) on Friday night at the Chicoine Center.
The Cowgirls (7-10 overall, 3-4 RMAC) trailed 23-20 in the first set before a 6-1 run to end the first set capped by a pair of kills from
Soleil Gandara and a Chadron State (3-11, 1-6) attack error won the set for NMHU.
After dropping the second set 25-14, the Cowgirls scored three of the last four points in the third set to take it 25-23 - capped by
Terayah Stukes kill. NMHU ran away with the fourth set, jumping out to a 7-1 lead and never looking back to take it 25-14.
Lisi Langi paced the Cowgirls with 13 kills while Stukes had 12 and
Keegan Lopez finished with 10. Gandara had 44 assists to lead NMHU while
Stacy Johnson had a team-best three aces, Angellina Oliver led NMHU with three blocks and
Elena Rivera had a team-best 15 digs.
The Cowgirls, who have won three of their last four, return to action 5 p.m. Saturday at nationally ranked Colorado School of Mines.
