LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team moved its winning streak to four with a convincing 115-71 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Tuesday at Wilson Complex.
The 115 points scored is the most since the Cowboys scored 119 against UCCSÂ on Feb. 1, 2019.
NMHU (4-1 overall) was led by scorching shooting from beyond the arc, going 15-for-31 (48.4 percent) from 3-point range (including 12-for-17 in the second half) while shooting 57.1 percent overall from the field in the contest.
Desmond Carpenter paced five Cowboys in double figures with 23 points to go along with five steals.
Ja' Vary Christmas had 18 points,
Tyler Rodgers had 16 points thanks to going 5-for-6 from 3-point range,
Marcus Brown had 12 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists and
Mario Archuleta had 11 points.
Will Johnson just missed a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.
The Cowboys held the Aggies to 36.1 percent shooting from the field (including 7-for-26 from 3-point range) and forced 21 turnovers - leading to 22 points.
NMHU returns to action 6 p.m. Wednesday as it travels to play New Mexico State in an exhibition game for the Cowboys in Las Cruces.
