LAS VEGAS, N.M. ---Â The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team looks to make it five wins in a row as the Cowboys host Northern New Mexico 6 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Complex.
NMHU defeated the NAIA Eagles 83-69 in Espanola on Nov. 17 with
Ja' Vary Christmas leading the way with 20 points, six rebounds and five assists as five Cowboys finished in double figures. Marc Howard Jr. led NNMC with 21 points and five assists.
COWBOYS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Cowboys extended their win streak to four games on Tuesday with a convincing 115-71 win at home over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
Desmond Carpenter had a game-high 23 points while Christmas added 18 points and
Tyler Rodgers had 16 points and five rebounds - going 5-for-6 from 3-point range. The next day, the Cowboys traveled to Las Cruces to face New Mexico State, and after trailing by just three at the half, fell to the Division-I Aggies 94-67.
Carpenter leads the team in scoring at 18.0 points to go along with a team-best 3.2 assists and 4.0 steals per game. Christmas is averaging 17.2 points per game while
Marcus Brown is at 15.4 points per contest. Rodgers is averaging 9.2 points and is 13-for-19 from 3-point range (68.4 percent) while
Darius Harrison is averaging 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.
NNMC HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Eagles are coming off of a 96-61 loss at Fort Lewis on Sunday in Durango. Tyrique Weaver led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds while Howard and Keane Harris had 13 points apiece.
Howard leads the team in scorign at 13 points per game while Ricardo Zambrano is averaging 10.8 and Omar Dominguez is averaging 10.0.
