LAS VEGAS, N.M. ---Â The New Mexico Highlands volleyball team attempts to stay in the RMAC postseason hunt as the Cowgirls travel to take on 24th-ranked Regis 3Â p.m. Saturday at Regis Field House.
NMHU currently sits 1.5 games out of the two final playoff spots for the RMAC Tournament at 5-10 (along with Adams State), trailing 6-8 Colorado Christian and Fort Lewis, with three games remaining. South Dakota Mines, UCCS and Black Hills State are each two games back at 4-10.
COWGIRLS HEADING INTO THIS WEEKÂ |Â 2021Â SEASON STATS
NMHUÂ is coming off a key five-set win over Adams State on Tuesday on the road.
Terayah Stukes led the Cowgirls with 21 kills,
Stacy Johnson had a team-best four blocks,
Soleil Gandara led the team with 53 assists and
Elena Rivera had 19 digs.
Lisi Langi continues to lead the team in kills at 2.71 per set followed by Stukes (2.48),Â
Keegan Lopez (2.43), Angellina Oliver (1.93) and Johnson (1.95). Gandara is averaging a team-best 10.0Â assists per set while Johnson leads the team with 28 aces. Rivera has a team-high 3.95Â digs per set while Johnson leads the team in blocks per set at 0.87 - juts head of Oliver (0.85).
REGIS HEADING INTO THE WEEKÂ |Â 2021 SEASON STATS
The Rangers had their 11-match win streak snapped Friday by top-ranked MSU Denver in a five-set thriller that saw the last set go to the Roadrunners 22-20. The next day Regis got back on track with a four-set win over Colorado Christian.
Caitlyn Burroway has been a strong force for the Rangers, averaging 3.40 kills per set - followed by Rachel Siurek (2.56), Halle Theis (2.32) and Nadine Burbrink (2.0). Mara LeGrand has been the team's primary setter with 10.49 assists per contest while Haley Kennedy leads the team in aces (34) and digs (4.09). Burbrink leads the team in blocks at 1.15 per set.
