LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team looks to bounce back from an 0-2 start to RMAC play as the Cowboys host a hot Regis squad 7 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Complex.
COWBOYS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Cowboys dropped their first two RMAC games - both on the road - last week, falling at Adams State 85-81 on Friday and at CSU Pueblo 68-65 on Saturday, both games they led late.
NMHU continues to lead the RMAC and is ninth in the country in scoring at 90.9 points per game.
The Cowboys have five players averaging 9.5 points or more per game in
Desmond Carpenter (17.0),
Marcus Brown (14.8),
Ja' Vary Christmas (14.5),
Sammy Barnes-Thompkins (10.6) and
Andre Adams (9.5).
Bryce Sanchious leads the team in rebounding (5.8), Barnes-Thompkins leads the team in assists (2.8) and
Desmond Carpenter leads the team, RMAC and is eighth in the country at 3.1 steals per game.
REGIS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Rangers have won seven games in a row since dropping its opener to Lubbock Christian, including starting RMAC play 2-0 after beating Colorado School of Mines in Golden 66-62 behind 14 poitns and six rebounds from Brian Dawson and beating South Dakota Mine at home in overtime 95-85 with Dawson leading the way with 21 points.
Dawson leads the team in scoring at 15.3 poitns per game to go along with 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Will Cranston-Lown is averaging 13 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds adn 2.3 steals per game while Troy Brady is at 11.4 points per game and shooting 43.8 percent from 3-point range. Kevin Ebiriekwe leads the team in rebounding (5.3) and steals (2.5) while averaging 9.1 points per contest.
