LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team are hoping a little time off can refocus its season as it looks to get back on track when it hosts Westminster on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday.

COWBOYS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Cowboys haven't played since dropping a pair of road games Dec. 18-19, falling at Black Hills State 91-69 and at Chadron State 61-57 - moving their losing streak to five games after starting the season 5-1.

NMHU has four players averaging double figures - led by Desmond Carpenter's 16.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.5 assists per game. Marcus Brown is averaging 15.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals, Ja' Vary Christmas is averaging 12.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while Sammy Barnes-Thompkins is at 10.6 points per contest.

WESTMINSTER HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Griffins dropped its last game before break 78-77 at home against CSU Pueblo on Dec. 16. Westminster did play an exhibition game Wednesday at BYU, falling 65-53

Yusuf Mohamed leads the team at 17.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Jarrett Jordan is averaging 12.5 points per game while Brayden Johnson is averaging 10.5 points nad 4.5 rebounds per contest.

COLORADO MESA HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2021-22 STATISTICS
The Mavs have won three games in a row heading into the break, including beating Adams State 90-45 on Dec. 17 and CSU Pueblo 85-75 on Dec. 18.

CMU has four players averaging double figures - and seven averaging more than 7.5 points per game. Blaise Threatt leads the way at 12.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest followed by Mac Riniker (11.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.1 bpg), Trevor Baskin (11.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.4 spg, 1.3 bpg) and Owen Koonce (10.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg).
