MSU Denver takes game four against the Cowboys

Las Vegas, NM --- The Roadrunners complete the sweep against the New Mexico Highlands baseball team with a 21-7 win in game 4 at Brandt Field.

With a runner on third base with two outs in the top of the first inning, the Roadrunners managed to score six runs off back-to-back homeruns from left fielder Chase Anderson and catcher Alex Gonzales. MSU Denver then held the Cowboys scoreless through the first seven innings to take a 20-0 lead.

Nicolas Alderete stepped in for the Cowboys in the seventh inning to knock a single through the right side as Gaylan Young walked before the Cowboys scored the first two runs of the day off a fielding error from MSU Denver. Eric Papas and Griffin Logan loaded the bases for the Cowboys after being stung by a pitch as Kalen Hammer recorded an RBI with a single to left field. Estevan De La O scored the final three runs for the Cowboys after being thrown out at third base in hopes for a one out triple.

The Roadrunners would go on to take game four 21-7.

Hammer led the Cowboys with three hits and an RBI while De La O, Charles Morgan, Alderete, and Gavin Gifford recorded on hit each for the Cowboys.

Brady Salyards moves to 1-2 on the year after giving up eleven runs off seven hits and striking out three Roadrunners.

The Cowboys will be back in action next week as they travel to Colorado Springs for their pod weekend with UCCS and Colorado School of Mines.
