Box Score 2 Las Vegas, NM --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team split the first two games of the RMAC pod weekend against Colorado School of Mines with a 2-1 victory in game two but, lost to UCCS 7-8 on the tail end of the double-header.

 The Cowboys found themselves down 8-2 going in to their last at-bat as
Ashton Roy gave the Cowboys life with a solo home run to right field.
Gaylan Young followed with a single as
Joe Kuhn made it 8-4 with a double to right-center. Three consecutive singles from
Fabian Ferreira,
Jared Brown, and
Eric Papas resulted in two more runs for the Cowboys to cut the Oredigger lead to 8-6.
Estevan De La O was hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Cowboys After a gust of snow caused game one to come to a halt with the bases. A loss of momentum generated a fly out to right field by
Ashton Roy the following morning gave the Orediggers the win in game one.

The Cowboys finished with 13 total hits with Kuhn going three for four with 2 RBI and a homerun.

Game two started shortly after as neither team registered a run until the top half of the fourth inning when Kuhn scored Young with a shot down the left field line. The Orediggers tied the game in the sixth inning before
Brandon Baier scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh with a single through the left side of the field.

Angel Castillo (1-1) received his first win of the season as he went the distance giving up 1 earned run off six hits and 1 strikeout on the game.
Aidan McNichol finished with a team hit three hits while Young and Kuhn each added two hits each for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys saw game three slip away early in the game as starter
Blake Collier gave up five runs in the bottom half of the first inning. The Mountain Lions would add two more runs to their lead before the Cowboys exploded for six runs in the fifth inning that was highlighted by a pair of Mountain Lion fielding errors to make it 7-6 Mountain Lions.

A run for UCCS in the bottom of the sixth gave the Mountain Lions an 8-6 lead before a pair of walks and a single from McNichol would cut the UCCS lead to 8-7, but the Mountain Lions would hold on to take game three 8-7. Â

The Cowboys walked away with 9 total hits with McNichol, Baier, and
Jesus Chavez knocking two hits apiece as Collier turns to 0-2 on the season.
