LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team won its sixth game in a row with an 83-74 victory over Black Hills State on Saturday night at Wilson Complex.
The Cowboys (12-11 overall, 7-10 RMAC) outscored the Yellow Jackets (16-7, 14-4) 39-29 in the second half - including holding BHSU to 30.3 percent shooting in the second half (going 4-for-23 from 3-point range).
NMHU took the lead for good with a 7-0 run to make it 61-55 -Â ignited by a go-ahead 3-pointer from
Marcus Brown at the 14:00 minute mark in the second half and capped by a
Sammy Barnes-Thompkins bucket in transition.
The Yellow Jackets wouldn't get within a possession of the Cowboys the rest of the contest.
Barnes-Thompkins led NMHU with 34 points - adding five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Brown had 12 points,
Andre Adams had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and
Tyler Rodgers finished with 10 points.
The Cowboys host Adams State 6 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Complex.
