SAN ANGELO, Texas --- The New Mexico Highlands softball team lost to Texas A&M International 8-0 before falling to No. 9 Angelo State 4-0 Saturday at Mayer Stadium.
The Cowgirls (2-6) gave up two in the first and six in the third in the loss to the Dustdevils. NMHU had two hits in the contest - a
Demi Uffelman double and a
Camrynn Ziegler single. Uffelman got the loss in the circle, going 2.1 innings and giving up seven runs on five hits with a strikeout and four walks.
Against nationally ranked ASU, NMHU gave up four in the first and didn't allow a run the rest of the game. However, the Cowgirls couldn't find a way to score.
NMHU totaled three hits in the contest, a single each from
Heaven Medina,
Samantha Gamboa and
Brooke De La Garza.
Arianna Ramirez pitched well after the first, but still picked up the loss - going six innings and giving up four runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout.
The Cowgirls open RMAC play starting Saturday at home against Black Hills State.
