LUBBOCK, Texas --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team led after three, but fell at No. 25 Lubbock Christian 17-5 Friday at Hays Field.Â
The Cowboys (2-9) led the Chaparrals (10-3) 5-3 after three after
Eric Papas drilled a three-run homer to give NMHU the lead.
However, four runs in the fourth by LCU made it 7-5 as it started a run of 14 unanswered runs by the Chaps.
Cobe Lehman added a home run for the Cowboys and
Estevan De La O finished 3-for-5 with a double.
Hunter Waugh got the loss for NMHU, going 3.1 innings and giving up six runs (four earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
NMHU and LCU complete their two-game series Saturday afternoon.
