COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team led by a run heading into the fourth before a seven-run outburst by UCCS led to the Cowboys losing 16-8 Monday at Mountain Lion Park.
NMHUÂ (4-16, 2-6 RMAC) took a 7-6 lead on UCCS (7-11, 3-1) in the top of the fourth thanks to a Mountain Lion error before UCCS scored seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 13-7 lead.

Brandon Baier homer in the sixth cut the lead to five, but two runs by UCCS in the bottom half of the inning made the final 16-8.
Baier finished 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs,
Jared Brown went 2-for-4 with two runs,
Aidan McNichol went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a double,
Allan Salas went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run and
Joe Kuhn went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and a run.
Gavin Gifford got the loss in relief, going 1.1 innings and giving up six runs on four hits with two walks.
The Cowboys hit the road again this week as they travel for a four-game set at MSU Denver with the first game scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday.
