Mckayla Encinias hit a sac fly to score Savannah Chavez to cut the lead to 2-1. But CSM scored three runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth to force the run rule.
Nathalie Blattmann got the loss, going four innings and giving up five runs on eight hits wth two strikeouts and two walks.
Samantha Gamboa went 2-for-2 with a double to lead the Cowgirls at the plate.
In game two, the Orediggers scored three in the third, three in the fourth and one in the seventh to come away with the 7-0 wins.
Carlee Gonzalez led NMHU, going 3-for-3 with a double.
Arianna Ramirez got the loss, going all seven innings and giving up seven runs (six earned) on 14 hits with seven strikeouts and a walk.
The Cowgirls return to action Wednesday as they play a non-conference doubleheader at Adams State starting at 2 p.m.
