LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Mexico Highlands baseball team dropped the series finale to Regis 7-5 Sunday to split the series with the Rangers.
The Cowboys (7-21 overall, 5-11 RMAC) fell behind 4-0 after the top of the fourth and 6-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth when
Aidan McNichol hits an RBI double to make it 6-2.
McNichol struck again in the eighth when he blasted a two-run homer to right center to make it 6-4. Regis added a run to make it 7-5 heading to the bottom of the ninth and NMHU was able to scratch one run across on an
Eric Papas RBI double - but that's as close as the Cowboys got.
McNichol paced NMHU at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBI.
Joe Kuhn went 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored.
Dominick Castillo got the start and the loss, going 3.1 innings and giving up two runs on four hits with no strikeouts or walks.
