LAS VEGAS, N.M. --- The New Highlands University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Colorado Christian 10-1 and 12-2 Friday at NMHU Softball Field.
The Cowgirls (7-43, 5-33) in the first game allowed two runs in the first, three in the second, four in the third and one in the fourth to fall behind the RMAC-leading Cougars (46-6, 34-2) 10-0 before a
Dioni Lincoln RBI double in the bottom of the fifth made the final score 10-1.
Nathalie Blattmann got the loss, going five innings and giving up 10 runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
In the second game, NMHU fell behind 6-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth before
Heaven Medina hit a two-run homer for the Cowgirls to make it 6-2. However, CCU scored six runs in the top of the fifth to make it 12-2 and NMHUÂ couldn't answer as the run rule was put into effect.
Arianna Ramirez got the loss, going five innings and giving up 12 runs on 14 hits with a strikeout and four walks.
The Cowgirls close out their season and celebrate their seniors with a doubleheader that starts at 11 a.m. Saturday.
