Las Vegas, New Mexico - Back to back victories for the New Mexico Highlands volleyball team as they swept Black Hills State 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-22) Friday night at the Wilson Complex. The Cowgirls improved to 3-18 overall and 1-8 in the RMAC. The Yellow Jackets fall to 5-15 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
Jaylee Gonzales recorded 11 kills to lead NMHU.
Aziza Morris and
Angelina Burton added 10 and eight kills respectively.
Ashleigh Meyer had 18 assists in the match.
Sophia Hendricks-Montes led the way with three aces.
Defensively,
Jada Lawson had three blocks. Hendricks-Montes led the way with 17 digs.
NMHU led wire to wire in the opening two sets as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The third set looked to be more of the same as the Cowgirls led 5-1 early. Black Hills State rallied to pull away in the third and led the set 21-16. The Cowgirls would not be denied the sweep as the finished the set on a 9-1 run to close out the match.
