Las Vegas, New Mexico - South Dakota Mines snapped the New Mexico Highlands two match winning streak on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win in the Wilson Complex. The Hardrockers came away with the RMAC win 23-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-16. NMHU falls to 3-19 overall and 1-9 in the conference while South Dakota Mines improves to 13-7 and 7-3.
Offensively the Cowgirls were led by
Jaylee Gonzales who recorded 12 kills in the match.
Aziza Morris and Agelina Burton added nine and eight kills respectively.
Ashleigh Meyer had 16 assists and
Abby Carlsen had a pair of service aces.
Defensively,
Sophia Hendricks-Montes had 11 digs while
Jada Lawson and
Layla Hooks each had three blocks.
Freshman
Jaylee Gonzales had an impressive week for the Cowgirls as she recorded 41 kills, seven service aces, 24 digs and six blocks in three matches.
The Cowgirls head back to Alamosa this week for a pair of matches as part of the RMAC "Power Pod" weekend. They will play Admas State on Thursday and Chadron State on Friday, both matches are set for 6:00 pm starts.
