Pueblo, CO- NM The NMHU Cowgirls split their games vs CSU Pueblo on Saturday evening. The Cowgirls did a great job keeping the games low scoring holding Pueblo to 3 runs in game 1 and 0 runs in game 2. In Game 1 the Cowgirls were down 1-3 for the majority of this game.
Heaven Medina scored on a single by
Carlee Gonzalez in the 2nd inning. Getting batters on base was not difficult as both teams got 4 hits. The challenge was getting them to home plate. The Cowgirls finished the last inning with 2 runners on base and could have potentially tied the game.
In Game 2 The Cowgirls held their opponent to 0 runs for just the second time this season.
Maya Milano and the Cowgirls defense were on the same page the entire game. Even when Pueblo managed to get on base, they were never able to benefit from it. The game was a defensive showcase as the score was 0-0 until the 6th inning when Ale De La Trinidad singled resulting in
Heaven Medina making it home for one run. Fast forward to the top 7th inning after Milano generated 3 more outs in the bottom of the 6th,
Arianna Ramirez singled resulting in a
Samantha Gamboa run. After pushing the score to 2-0 the Cowgirls defense put a stamp on their defensive performance.
