Cowgirls Nearly Hand CCU First Conference Loss

The NMHU Cowgirls were visitors against the RMAC's #1 ranked Colorado Christian who has yet to lose a conference game. NMHU competed and made CCU sweat in both games. CCU has only scored less than 5 runs in both games of a double header one time this season against #19 Concordia State University on Feb 11. These games showed that NMHU has a defense to be proud of. As soon as NMHU catches their rhythm at the plate they will be a force to be reckoned with in the RMAC

Game 1- This game was much more competitive than the scoreboard would suggest as this game was tied at 0-0 up until the 5th inning. CCU scored 2 runs in the 5th and then went on to score 2 more in the 6th. With an inability to score the Cowgirls were forced to watch the game slip from their hands. The Cowgirls struggled to get hits in game one as they only registered 3 hits.

Game 2- Was a tough one to swallow for the Cowgirls. Again in a game that was looking to be 0-0 for the majority of the contest. After CCU scored 1 run Carlee Gonzalez smashed a home run giving the Cowgirls a miraculous 2-1 lead. After grabbing this lead Arianna Ramirez continued getting the Cougars off the field. Approaching the bottom of the 7th the Cowgirls had a 2-1 lead when Kayla Middleton smashed a homerun to left field tying the game 2-2. The game went on to the 8th inning where Christian scored on a single to end the game.

On The Road Again- Tomorrow the Cowgirls have a chance to go out and compete against Christian again to hand CCU their first conference loss of the season. CCU is 30-2 and has been running through competition all year. The Cowgirls can shock the RMAC and pull off a victory on the road.
