In a thrilling double header, Regis University took on New Mexico Highlands University in two games of baseball. Game 1 saw Regis University take control early, with J. Cicini hitting a home run in the second inning to give them an early lead. However, New Mexico Highlands quickly responded with a two-RBI single by Pacheco in the same inning, taking a 2-1 lead. Regis fought back, with Z. Daudet hitting a home run in the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.
Regis then took the lead in the fourth inning, with J. Moulin hitting a three-run homer to give them a 5-2 lead. They extended their lead in the fifth inning with two more runs, courtesy of an error and a double by C. Chase, taking a commanding 7-2 lead. Hamilton then hit a double in the fifth inning to make it 8-2 in favor of Regis. New Mexico Highlands managed to score a run in the sixth inning, with Ferreira hitting a home run, but it was too little too late. Regis went on to win the game 10-3.
Game 2 saw New Mexico Highlands come out strong, with Bobs hitting a two-RBI double in the first inning, giving them an early 2-0 lead. They extended their lead in the same inning, with Waugh hitting a single to bring Bobs home, taking a 3-0 lead. Regis fought back in the second inning, with Dalrymple hitting a single to score C. Chase, making it 3-1. Lagatta then walked and advanced to second, with Dalrymple scoring on a wild pitch, tying the game at 3-3.
Regis took the lead in the third inning, with J. Cicini hitting a groundout to bring M. Marlow home, making it 4-3. Paniagua then hit a two-RBI single to extend their lead to 6-3. New Mexico Highlands managed to score a run in the third inning, courtesy of a home run by Sato, making it 6-4. However, Regis added to their lead in the fifth inning, with Dalrymple hitting a double to score C. Chase, and Paniagua hitting a sacrifice fly to score Dalrymple, making it 8-4.
Regis put the game out of reach in the seventh inning, with Dalrymple hitting a home run to extend their lead to 9-4. New Mexico Highlands managed to score a run in the same inning, with Leger hitting a single to bring Dedrick home, but it was too little too late. Regis went on to win the game 9-5.
Overall, it was a dominant performance by Regis University, winning both games and outscoring New Mexico Highlands by a combined score of 19-8. The teams will play their final game of the series tomorrow at 12p at Brandt field.
