Milano, Ramirez Bring Home 2 Victories over Mines

Game 1-  Game 1 for the Cowgirls was a highly competitive pitching battle between NMHU's Maya Milano and Sadriena Rodriguez. Both pitchers brought their absolute A-games to the contest as both teams were battling to score a run the entire game. In a game of who will slip first Milano and Rodriguez put on one of the best pitching performances you will see at any level of softball.  In a game that was scheduled to go 7 innings, this contest lasted 11 total innings until Arianna Ramirez smashed a single to center field, scoring Megan Gutierrez who was sitting on 3rd at the bottom of the 11th inning. Rodriguez was forced to check out during the 10th inning as her pitch count touched over 140. Due to efficiency, Milano maintained a low pitch count during her 11 innings and showed no signs of slowing down.

Game 2- Arianna Ramirez continued the momentum for the Cowgirls as she almost single handedly took out the Orediggers. Ramirez not only pitched a great game only giving up 2 runs, but she hit two home runs in the contest. Between those two home runs, there was a ball that barely hit the gate in left field. Meaning Ramirez was inches away from hitting 3 home runs in 3 at bats. All of this while keeping the Orediggers off home plate for most of this contest. Ramirez also hit the game winner in game 1 of Saturday's double header.

Tomorrow- Pitchers Maya Milano and Arianna Ramirez teamed up again to carry NMHU to a pair of victories. Highlands is a team that is at their best when their bats get hot and their pitchers lock in with their defense. Tune in tomorrow to see if NMHU can manage to complete a series sweep of Colorado Mines.
