Cowboys vs Mavericks

The New Mexico Highlands Cowboys suffered a tough loss against the Colorado Mesa Mavericks, with a final score of 17-2. The game, played on Friday afternoon after a weather delay, saw the Mavericks take an early lead and never look back. Despite the Cowboys' best efforts, the Mavericks' offense proved to be too much to handle.

The scoring began in the first inning, with the Mavericks taking advantage of three errors to score four unearned runs. They continued to pour it on in the fourth and fifth innings, with a total of six more runs, highlighted by a three-run home run from M. Valdez. The Mavericks added four more runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

The Cowboys were finally able to get on the board in the seventh inning, with a two-run homer from Leger. However, it was too little too late, as the Mavericks had already built a comfortable lead.

Despite the disappointing result, the Cowboys can take some solace in the fact that they get another chance to face the Mavericks twice tomorrow on senior day. The doubleheader, with games at noon and 3p, will provide the seniors with an opportunity to leave it all on the field in their final home games. The Cowboys will be looking to bounce back and end the season on a high note.

The New Mexico Highlands Cowboys' record now stands at 3-40 overall. They will be looking to improve on that record tomorrow as they take on the Mavericks for the final time this season.
