Alamosa, Colorado - After playing in Las Vegas Friday night, the New Mexico Highlands volleyball team had a quick turnaround for their match tonight in Alamosa against Adams State. The Cowgirls came up on the short end of a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-19) decision to the Grizzlies in front of an announced crowd of 1,740.
With the loss, NMHU falls to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in RMAC play. Adams State moves to 2-7 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Jaylee Gonzales led the way in Alamosa with nine kills. Gonzales and
Abby Carlsen each recorded a service ace.
Ashleigh Meyer had 11 assists on the night and Sophia Montes-Hendricks led with six digs.
Saturday's match marks the first of two trips to Alamosa for the Cowgirls this season. Adams State will host NMHU and Chadron State in an RMAC Power Pod in late October.
The Cowgirls host a pair of RMAC matches next weekend. UCCS and Regis will be in Las Vegas for matches on Friday and Saturday evening respectively. Tickets for the matches are available at
