Las Vegas, New Mexico - The New Mexico Highlands men's basketball team lost to MSU-Denver 83-76 on Friday evening. With the loss the Cowboys are now 7-7 overall and 4-5 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners improve to 10-3 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
MSU-Denver opened the game on a 9-0 run to start the game. The Cowboys battled back to tie the game at 11-11 on a free throw by
AC Curry at the 13:28 mark of the first half. The two teams battled back and forth to end the first half tied at 33-33.
The Cowboys led early in the second half by as many as four points but the Roadrunners took the lead for good with 13:16 remaining in the contest.
Aahmod Scarbrough scored a season high 18 points to lead the Cowboys while
AC Curry was also in double figures with 11 points.
Eric Sonnenberg grabbed eight rebounds to lead NMHU.
As a team, the Cowboys shot 44% from the floor and made nine three point buckets. The battle of the boards was dead-locked at 30.
Up next, Colorado Mines is in Las Vegas on Saturday for a 7:00 pm contest with the Cowboys.
