Gunnison, Colorado - Western Colorado defeated New Mexico Highlands 76-65 Saturday evening in Gunnison. The loss dropped the Cowboys' record to 7-10 overall and 4-8 in RMAC play. The Mountaineers improved to 7-20 overall and 3-7 in the conference.
The Cowboys led by as many as seven points in the first half before trailing 32-20 at the halftime break. Despite outscoring Western Colorado in the second half, they could not eraseĀ the early deficit.
Messiah Turner scored a career 17 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Cowboys on Saturday.
Rodney Mason II (13 points) and
Tyler Rodgers (12 points) were also in double figures.
AC Curry had a team high eight rebounds.
The Cowboys play on the road again this coming Friday when they travel to Spearfish to face Black Hills State in a 7:00 pm game.
