Spearfish, South Dakota - The Cowboys jumped out to a fast start but could not hold off Black Hills State Friday night, dropping an 89-82 decision. With the loss NMHU is now 7-11 overall and 4-9 in the RMAC. The Yellow Jackets improve to 8-9 overall and 6-5 in conference play.
The Cowboys played a solid opening half as they led by as many as 16 points and held Black Hills State to 37.5% shooting from the floor. After trailing 46-33 at the half, the hosts turned the tables on the Cowboys in the second half as they outscored NMHU 56-36.
NMHU won the battle of the boards 51-42.
Four Cowboys scored in double figures on Friday night led by
Rodney Mason II who had a season high 18 points.
Messiah Turner scored 16 points while
Ezichi Kalu had 12 points and a team high nine rebounds.
Aahmod Scarbrough added 10 points.
Up next, the Cowboys return home to host UCCS and Regis next weekend.
