Alamosa, Colorado - Adams State handed NMHU a 3-0 defeat on Tuesday evening in RMAC Regional Pod match play. The Cowgirls fall to 2-10 on the season, the match against the Grizzlies did not count in the conference standings.
Adams State won the match by scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-20. The Cowgirls never got on track Tuesday as they allowed the host Grizzlies to jump out to a big lead in the opening set. The second set saw the struggles for NMHU continue. In the third set the Cowgirls started to get on track, but Adams State used a late burst to close out the match.
For the match, the Grizzlies outhit NMHU .246 to .028.
Angelina Burton led the Cowgirls with five kills.
Olivia Archuleta had 14 digs.
"Another disappointing effort for us tonight," said Coach
Meg Grose after the match. "I thought we would have rebounded after the match Saturday at Regis, but now we've got some work to do to get ready for Fort Lewis on Saturday afternoon."
The Cowgirls play their second match of the Regional Pod week this coming Saturday afternoon when Fort Lewis comes to Las Vegas. Match time is 3:00 pm.
