Blessin Kimble, the Cowboys picked up a 65-58 non-conference win at Colorado Christian on Thursday night. The win improved NMHU to 7-5 overall.
The Cowboys trailed early on Thursday but took the lead for good from the host Cougars when
Daniel Rosenber hit a jumper to make the score 8-6 at the 13:57 mark of the first half. The Cowboy lead grew to 41-22 at the half and was as large as 25 points in the second half.
"It's always nice to get a win before break and especially nice for us with us stopping our skid," said Head Coach
Mike Dominguez after Thursday's win. "At the end of the day us winning and losing is going to come down to us and if we can defend and do our job on a consistent basis."
Kimble was 7-9 from the floor, 2-3 from beyond the arc, and 6-7 from the free throw line en route to his 22 points. He also grabbed a team high six rebounds for the Cowboys.
Kyrie Thomas scored seven points and had a game high three steals.
As a team, NMHU was 23 for 57 from the floor and 11 of 14 from the free throw line. The Cougars held a 40-32 edge in rebounds.
Thursday night's game at Colorado Christian marks the third of three games against RMAC foes that are non-conference games this season. NMHU defeated CSU-Pueblo 85-63 and Western Colorado 94-86 last month in non-conference contests.
The Cowboys will break for the holidays and return to action on January 9th in Grand Junction against Colorado Mesa.
