Seminole, Oklahoma - Despite a late rally, the New Mexico Highlands baseball team dropped the series finale to Oklahoma Baptist today 10-8.
The Bison jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings but the Cowboys clawed their way back with a run in the third, three in the fourth, another run in the fifth and three more in the seventh to make the score 10-7. They would then get the go ahead run at the plate in the ninth before the Bison bullpen closed out the game.
Offensively,
Carlos Chavez continued his hot hitting going two for three, scoring two runs and recording an RBI.
Taiga Sato was two for five with a home run and two RBI.
Hunter VanCurler and
Tyler Sunstrom combined to pitch four innings of scoreless relief to keep the Cowboys within striking distance in the final frames.
The Cowboys head back out on the road next weekend as they travel to Hays, Kansas for a four game series with Fort Hays State.
