Hays, Kansas - The Cowboys dropped both ends of a chilly Saturday doubleheader this afternoon. Fort Hays State took the opening game 6-0 before rallying for a 7-5 win in the night cap.
In Saturday's opener the Cowboys were unable to get the bats warmed up as they scratched out three hits over seven innings. Starter
Andrew Baltazar went 4 ⅔ innings, allowed three earned runs and recorded nine strikeouts.
Saturday's nightcap saw the Cowboys leading 5-3 after five innings as they scored single runs in the second and fourth innings and posted three in the fifth. Carloas Chavez continued his hot hitting going three for five while driving in three runs.
Braylen Elzy also had three hits and drove in a run. The Tigers were able to push across four runs in the home half of the sixth inning to take command of the game.
The two teams are back at it tomorrow morning playing a pair of games to close out the weekend series. Sunday's first game is scheduled to get under way at 11:00 am (MT).
