Hays, Kansas - The Cowboys dropped both ends of Sunday's twin bill to Fort Hays State with the Tigers taking the opening game 6-0 and the nightcap 6-1. NMHU falls to 0-12 while Fort Hays State improves to 10-2.
In Sunday's opener the Cowboys scratched out three hits over the course of the seven inning contest but could not get any runs across against the Tigers' staff.
Dominick Castillo and
Sinhue Gonzalez combined to strike out five Fort Hays State batters.
And in the second game of the afternoon the Cowboys recorded six hits and scored their only run when
Sinhue Gonzalez laced a single that plated
Carlos Chavez. Three NMHU pitchers combined for seven strikeouts in the game.
The Cowboys returns to action this coming Friday and Saturday when they will be in Amarillo, Texas, to play four games with Panhandle State at
Hodgetown.
