Chadron, Nebraska - The Cowboys picked up a win on the road in overtime on Friday night as they held off Chadron State 90-82. The win improved the Cowboys record to 9-13 and 6-11 in the RMAC. The Eagles are now 11-12 overall and 8-9 in conference play.
Kenard Richardson scored a team high 26 points while
Kyrie Thomas added 22 points, grabbed a team high nine rebounds and handed out four assists to pace the Cowboys on Friday.
Aahmod Scarbrough and
Nathan Hasberry were also in double digits with 13 and 10 points apiece. Â
Ezichi Kalu had eight rebounds and a game high two blocked shots.
The Cowboys led by 16 points with 11:06 to go in the game and held off a furious rally by Chadron State that sent the game into overtime.
The Eagles scored the first basket of extra time to take an 80-78 lead. The Cowboys then scored 12 of the final 14 points of the game to secure the road victory. A key play late in the game was
Ezichi Kalu with the put back on a missed shot with thirty two seconds remaining.
NMHU shot 43% from the floor and 81.3 from the free throw line on Friday. They also out rebounded Chadron State 47-40.
The Cowboys are in Lakewood on Saturday to play Colorado Christian in a 7:00 pm contest.
