Cowgirls Drop Two To MSU-Denver

Las Vegas, New Mexico – The New Mexico Highlands softball team dropped both ends of today's doubleheader falling to MSU-Denver 17-7 in game one and 5-4 in the day's second game. The Cowgirls are 5-6 overall and 1-5 in the RMAC. MSU-Denver improves to 11-5 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

MSU-Denver jumped out to a big lead in the opening game and closed out the Cowgirls in five innings. Maya Milano took the loss, she is now 4-2 on the season. Arianna Ramirez went two for three and had a pair of RBI and scored two runs.

Game two saw the Cowgirls strike first with two runs on the third on a Lexi Apodaca home run that plated Maya Milano. When the Roadrunners scored five runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead the Cowgirls responded with two in their half to tie it up at 4-4. The NMHU runs came courtesy of a two run double off the bat of Jazmyn Griego. The Roadrunner took the lead for good in their half of the sixth.

The two teams play a doubleheader on Sunday with first pitch set for 11:00 am.
