Edmond, Oklahoma - The Cowboys lost a pair of games on Saturday as the Edmond First Pitch Classic falling to Emporia State 15-5 and Pittsburg State 11-2.
In Saturday's opener the Cowboys struck first scoring a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Carlos Chavez led off the inning with a triple and scored when
Richie Amavizca doubled to left. Two batters later Taiga Soto doubled which plated Amavizca.
After Emporia State took a 3-2 lead, the Cowboys put three runs on the board in the top of the sixth inning. With two out,
Chase Stewart tripled to center to score Soto and
DJ Sandoval who reached on a single and walk respectively.
Lubby Marrujo then singled to score Stewart from third making the score 5-3 Cowboys.
Emporia State accounted for the rest of the scoring in the 15-5 final.
In the day's second contest, NMHU fell to Pittsburg State 11-2. Marrujo and Sato each had an RBI while
Roman Robles and
Tanner Hedrick scored the runs for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys wrap up play in Edmond on Sunday morning at 10:00 am playing Central Oklahoma.
