Colorado Springs, Colorado - New Mexico Highlands sophomore sprinter
Patreece Clarke was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week yesterday.
Clarke claimed a spot within the NCAA Division II top-10 with her performance in the 60-meter hurdles over the weekend. Competing in a field stacked with Division I competition, she ran a season-best 8.50 and firmly placed herself in the No. 8 position in the NCAA Division II Indoor Performance List and the top performance in the RMAC.
"It would be easy to say Patreece has just picked up where she left off last year, but she suffered an injury in the fall. She and coach Russell have been very methodical in getting back to full speed," said head coach
Bob DeVries. "The goal is to keep getting fitter and faster over the next month leading up to indoor nationals."
Yesterday's announcement marks the second weekly honor for Clarke as she was named Track Athlete of the Week in December, 2022, for her performance at the Mountaineer Open and Multi.
NMHU returns to Albuquerque for the Don Kirby Invitational this Friday and Saturday.
