Las Vegas, New Mexico - In a weekend where Mother Nature caused havoc with the schedules, New Mexico Highlands and Black Hills State were finally able to get in a pair of games on Monday. The visitors won the day's first game 10-0 while the Cowgirls captured the second game 3-0.
In Monday's first game Black Hills State scored a run in the second inning, two in the third, and put the game out of reach with seven runs in the fourth inning. The Cowgirls scratched out four hits but were unable to score in the game.
In the day's second game the Cowboys got on the board with two runs in the second when
Jazmyn Griego laced a double to center field that scored
Carlee Gonzalez and
Maya Milano. They added an insurance in the third when
Lexi Apodaca plated Ariana Ramirez on a two out single to left. Ramirez pitched a complete game shutout as she allowed just two hits in the game.
Up next the Cowgirls travel to Alamosa this coming weekend for games with Adams State. First pitch on Saturday is 12:00 pm while Sunday's games start at 11:00 am.
