Alamosa, Colorado - The Cowgirls split Saturday's doubleheader at Adams State dropping the opening game 10-7 and bouncing back to take the nightcap 8-5. NMHU is now 9-16 overall and 5-15 in the RMAC.
Game one saw the Cowgirls take an early 7-1 lead as they scored five runs in the second inning and added a pair of runs in the third after Adams State plated a run in the first. Adams State then scored eight unanswered runs to take the 10-7 win.
Jazmyn Griego was two for three with a pair of RBI while
Maya Milano reached base four times and recorded two RBI.
In game two the Cowgirls recorded 15 hits and scored eight runs en route to the win.
Karla Banegas was three for four with three RBIs and
Heaven Medina went two for four and had two RBI.
Maya Milano recorded the complete game win for NMHU.
The two teams will play a doubleheader starting at 11:00 am on Sunday morning in Alamosa.
