Alamosa, Colorado - The Cowgirls swept Sunday's double at Adams State winning the opener 11-10 and the day's second game 14-8. NMHU improves to 11-16 overall and 7-15 in the RMAC after taking three of four this weekend.
Sunday's opener was a wild one with the Cowgirls jumping out to a 7-2 lead after two innings. After Adams State took a 9-7 lead, NMHU answered with three runs in their half of the seventh inning and held off the Grizzlies 11-10.
Carlee Gonzalez was three for four with a pair of RBI.
Lexi Apodaca hit a two run homer to aid in the seventh inning rally.
Arianna Ramirez pitched a complete game to earn her third win of the season.
Game two saw Adams State take a 2-0 lead after two innings but the Cowgirl bats came alive and scored 13 runs over the next four innings to put the game out of reach and complete the sweep.
Karla Banegas was three for five with a homer, double and five RBI for the Cowgirls.
Lexi Apodaca added a homer and three RBI in the game.
Banegas got the start and went the distance as she notched her second win of the season.
Up next, the Cowgirls head to Grand Junction for games on Friday and Saturday.
