Grand Junction, Colorado - The Cowgirls dropped both ends of Friday's doubleheader at Colorado Mesa losing the opening game 9-0 and game two 9-1. NMHU is now 11-18 overall and 7-17 in the RMAC.
In the opening game
Karla Banegas accounted for the NMHU offense as she was two for two at the plate with a single in the second inning and single in the fifth inning.
Game two saw
Carlee Gonzalez hit a lead-off homer in the second inning to left field which knotted the score at 1-1. The Cowgirls, however, could not hold off the Mavericks as the hosts plated eight runs in their half of the second to put the game out of reach.
The two teams will play a doubleheader again tomorrow morning. First pitch is set for 11:00 am.
