Odessa, Texas - The Cowgirls closed out play at the UT-Permian Basin Tournament on Saturday with a pair of matches. NMHU fell to Southeastern Oklahoma State 3-0 on Saturday morning and then lost to the host Falcons 3-0 before heading home on Saturday afternoon.
The day started with a match against Southeastern Oklahoma and despite playing the Savage Storm close, NMHU fell 25-21, 25-15, 25-20.
For the match the Cowgirls hit just .075.
Individually,
Jaylee Gonzales and
Angelina Burton recorded six kills each for the Cowgirls.
Olivia Archuleta had 11 digs.
The host Falcons handed the Cowgirls a 3-0 defeat in Saturday's second match. It was the second loss in as many weeks to UT-Permian Basin for the Cowgirls.
Aziza Morris had six kills to pace the Cowgirls.
Aaliyah Krenn playing in her first match of the year had three blocks to lead NMHU.
After the weekend in Odessa head coach
Meg Grose said, "We are excited to finally play at home after being on the road for our first seven matches of the season. We've seen bits and pieces of the system we are working on and once it clicks the future is going to be bright for this young group."
Freshman
Meg Pfannerstill was named to the 2024 Iceman Invitational All-Tournament Team as she recorded 10 kills, 26 digs and six blocks in the tournament.
Up next, the Cowgirls open play on Friday evening in their first RMAC match of the season when Adams State visits Las Vegas. Match time is set for 6:00 pm.
