Colorado Springs, Colorado - The Cowgirls were on the road again Friday evening for a match at UCCS and the Mountain Lions defeated NMHU 3-1. NMHU is now 2-8 overall and 1-2 in the RMAC.
UCCS jumped out to the early lead by capturing the first set 25-17. The Cowgirls won the second set 25-23 before dropping the next two 25-17, 25-18.
Angelina Burton led the Cowgirls with 13 kills. She posted double digits in kills for the fourth time this season.
Jaylee Gonzales and Meg Pfannersill each had three service aces while
Abby Carlsen and
Francesca Carbone recorded 15 and 14 assists respectively.
Defensively,
Jada Lawson led with five blocks and
Olivia Archuleta had 14 digs.
"We started four true freshmen tonight who are carrying big work loads for our team, the success will come," said Head Coach
Meg Grose. "We have a very talented team and we are trusting the process."
The Cowgirls play at Regis tomorrow afternoon. Match time in Denver is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
