Gunnison, Colorado - The Cowboys could not overcome the hot-shooting Western Colorado falling on Saturday 89-75. With the loss, NMHU is now 7-7 overall and 0-6 in RAMC play.
The hosts took the lead for good on Saturday three minutes into the first half and never let the Cowboys back into the game.
Kenard Richardson, the RMAC's leading scorer, had a game high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss. Freshman
KJ LaMonte was the only other Cowboy in double-figures with 13 points.
Kyrie Thomas had four assists.
Ezzy Dawson had nine rebounds off the bench.
NMHU shot 43.5% from the floor and just 53.3% from the free throw line as a team.
The Mountaineers won the battle of the boards 40-34.
The Cowboys return home this coming Thursday evening when Black Hills State travels to historic Las Vegas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
