Lawton, Oklahoma - A late run by the host Aggies dealt the New Mexico Highlands an 89-81 setback on Tuesday night. The Cowboys are now 0-6 on the season while Cameron improves to 2-3.
The homesteading Aggies led for the entire first half and went to the locker room at the break with a 48-39 edge.
The Cowboys went on a 16-0 run early in the second half and turned the halftime deficit into a 61-53 with 12:45 left to play. That lead was pushed to 72-63 when
Dontae Walker drained a jumper with 7:04 remaining in the game. The Aggies then outscored NMHU 26-9 to close out the game.
Ibrahima Sacko scored game-high 21 points, on 10-15 shooting from the floor, to lead the Cowboys.
Nikk Williams had 16 points and
Dontae Walker went for 10 points.
BJ Comer grabbed a career high eight rebounds.
The Cowboys shot 32 for 69 from the floor and 12-19 from the line.
The Aggies held a 33-24 edge in rebounding.
Cameron visits Las Vegas on December 18th for a 6:00 pm game with the Cowboys.
Up next for the Cowboys is their home opener this Friday afternoon when they host Western New Mexico. Tip-off in the Wilson Complex is set for 3:00 pm.
