Las Vegas, New Mexico - New Mexico Highlands running back
Jeffery Jones has been named an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) First Team All-American, D2CCA Second Team All-American, and Associated Press (AP) Second Team All-American, capping a historic freshman season.
Jones, the 2025 RMAC Offensive Freshman of the Year, set New Mexico Highlands school records in single season rushing yards (1,722) and yards per carry (10.8). He finished the regular season ranked second among all Division II runners with 172.3 rushing yards per game and he led all Division II backs yards per carry, total rushing yards, and was 13th in rushing touchdowns. Â
In his second game as a Cowboy, Jones set the NCAA II Freshman Single Game Rushing record with 385 yards against Western New Mexico. He finished his freshman season with the seventh-most rushing yards in a single season in RMAC history.
Under the leadership of Head Coach
Kurt Taufa'asau, New Mexico Highlands posted a 6-5 record in 2025, marking the program's most wins in a season since 2012, when the Cowboys finished with eight victories.
